This very fine example of Victorian jewelry features taille d'epargné enamel, foxtail tassels, and seed pearls. It can be worn as a pendant necklace or a brooch. It has a gorgeous design of wreaths, scrolls, and architectural detail. The center tassel can be removed to hang a separate charm, watch, or other object. Taille d'epargné, sometimes referred to as black enamel tracery, translates from French literally as "saving cut." A very high end and fine example of Victorian jewelry techniques. Most likely American, circa 1850 - 1870.
