This spectacular pendant / brooch was made in the Edwardian era and shows expert craftsmanship. The cameo portion depicts Archangel Gabriel and is hand-carved in sardonyx. The cameo is surrounded by a rose gold bezel which is then surmounted with a black enamel and yellow gold outer frame. This item can be worn as a pendant with the hinged bail flipped upward or as a brooch / pin when the circular bail is hidden. Sardonyx is the ancient birthstone for the month of August.
