This necklace was converted from an Edwardian era horseshoe brooch which was made with sapphires and pearls set in 14 karat gold. The horseshoe has a long history of being a protective and auspicious symbol, a charm used to protect against any form of evil and bring good luck. American, circa 1910 - 20's.
