A spectacular Meiji era menuki (Japanese sword ornament) brooch. It was crafted out of mixed metals in the form of a cherry blossom flower and leaves. The cherry blossom is an important symbol in Japanese culture, it is an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life and is fundamentally a symbol of love any joy.
